The magic of lavender
History and symbolism
In Greek mythology, lavender is said to have been born from the ashes of botanical Hecate, to soothe the living and honor the dead. In ancient times, it was burned to ward off the evil eye, calm fevers, or charm lovers.
Fans of Marcel Pagnol will remember Manon hidden in the hills, with golden skin and a wild soul – her only adornment a breath of lavender and warm wind.
Botany
Originating from the mountainous regions of the Mediterranean basin, true lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) thrives between 800 and 1800 meters of altitude. Lavandin, born from the cross between Lavandula vera and Lavandula spica, generally has fuller flowers.
When it blooms, bees 🐝 cannot resist it. They flock to it. They get lost and intoxicated there.
Olfactory properties
In aromatherapy, natural lavender essential oil reigns supreme: soothing, purifying, sanitizing, and balancing. Fresh, herbaceous, sometimes almost camphorated.
In our creations
You can discover it at the heart of Elixir Bien Elevé and subtly detect it in Eau Belles Toilettes with bergamot, jasmine, and violet leaves.
