NATURAL HOME FRAGRANCES

A natural home fragrance is a fragrance whose concentrate is mainly composed of ingredients of natural origin: essential oils, absolutes, resins, or plant extracts.

These plant-based raw materials often offer more complex and nuanced fragrances than mostly or entirely synthetic fragrances. Natural ingredients also offer recognized benefits in aromatherapy, such as relaxation and purification.

At Domaine Singulier, more than 99.8% of the ingredients in our fragrances are of natural origin, including the alcohol base.

Our creations are developed in the spirit of haute perfumery, with refined compositions designed to elegantly fragrance living spaces.

A natural perfume is mainly composed of raw materials from nature: flowers, leaves, fruits, resins, or roots.

A synthetic perfume primarily uses molecules made in laboratories and derived from petrochemicals.

These molecules can reproduce certain natural scents or create new ones.

At Domaine Singulier, we choose perfumery that is over 99% natural in origin, to prioritize the olfactory richness of plant-based materials.

In perfumery and cosmetics, a synthetic ingredient is a molecule obtained through chemical synthesis, rather than being directly extracted from a natural raw material.

These molecules are generally manufactured in laboratories from basic raw materials, often derived from petrochemicals.

They can be used for various reasons:

  • to reproduce a scent found in nature
  • to stabilize or fix a fragrance
  • to provide an olfactory note that is difficult or impossible to extract naturally.

For example, synthetic vanillin, widely used in perfumery and the food industry, reproduces the characteristic scent of vanilla.

Some molecules also make it possible to imitate flowers whose scent cannot be extracted naturally, such as lily of the valley, lilac, or violet.

The first indication can be found on the label or product sheet.

Here are some useful benchmarks:

  • Check if the composition or the percentage of natural origin is indicated.
  • Be wary of vague mentions such as "alcohol of natural origin" without further information.
  • Keep in mind that a perfume claimed to be 85% natural still contains 15% synthetic ingredients.

Some perfumes may thus contain:

  • synthetic fixatives
  • colorants
  • sunscreen filters
  • or certain controversial molecules.

At Domaine Singulier, we detail the ingredients and explain our formulation choices so that everyone can understand what they are spraying in their home.

However, the complete formula of the perfumed concentrate remains a creative expertise, specific to the perfumer.

Yes, the sensation is different. Natural perfumes often offer a more subtle and airy diffusion than some highly synthetic perfumes. They are generally perceived as:

  • more delicate
  • more nuanced
  • less overwhelming
  • with emotional benefits

People accustomed to very powerful perfumes may sometimes be surprised or even disoriented at first.

Natural raw materials are generally much more expensive than synthetic molecules.

The production of some essential oils requires large quantities of plants. Added to this are the creative work, the selection of raw materials, and the formulation requirements.

However, it is important to distinguish between a natural formula consisting of a simple mixture of a few essential oils and a complex perfume like those from Domaine Singulier.

DOMAINE SINGULIER FRAGRANCE RITUALS

Choosing Domaine Singulier means prioritizing:

  • genuine compositions created by a master perfumer
  • formulas predominantly of natural origin (99.8 to 100% natural origin)
  • demanding expertise
  • French manufacturing
  • an approach that aims to enhance moments and places, by taking care of oneself and others

It also means choosing creations that are both understated and refined, setting them apart from the ordinary.

For us, home fragrance is not just about scent. It should also allow you to take care of yourself, a place, and those around you.

Yes. Domaine Singulier creations are unisex and appreciated by a mixed clientele.

Read our descriptions carefully. If you generally like very sweet, slightly fruity, gourmand fragrances, we recommend Eau Belles Toilettes with green almond, Bulgarian rose, and cedar. If you like fragrances that evoke the south, Provence, we recommend Eau Belles Toilettes with bergamot, jasmine, and violet leaves. Finally, if you prefer deeper, oriental, and botanical fragrances, we recommend the fragrance of Elixir Bien Elevé. Perfumer Eléonore de Staël also wanted the fragrances to blend in the air. If you're unsure, don't hesitate to contact us so we can guide you!

Nos flacons 100 ml. durent en moyenne 5 à 6 mois. Nos flacons 10 ml. dure en moyenne de 2 à 4 semaines. Selon le nombre de personnes qui les utilisent, la fréquence et le volume des espaces.

The Elixir Bien Élevé is a sophisticated and targeted gesture due to the use of the pipette. The fragrance diffuses gradually, gently and discreetly. You will place drops using the pipette on the rim of the toilet bowl, on the sink, the hand basin, on a small diffuser and why not a few drops in the vacuum cleaner bag. Eau Belles Toilettes comes in a spray bottle and allows for volume dispersion. The gesture is faster, the result more immediate. You will spray in the air of the toilet, the bathroom but also with pleasure in a bedroom, an entrance, an office, sheets or curtains (our perfumes do not stain). Read the precautions for use carefully.

In a small room, diffusion usually lasts between one and two hours.

Natural ingredients, being more volatile than synthetic compounds, offer a lighter and airier diffusion, akin to the sensations one might experience in a garden or in nature.

Spraying or dropping is a conscious act. You decide when.

If you're looking for a scent that lasts all day, a reed diffuser would be more appropriate. It's not the same approach.

Yes. Domaine Singulier scented rituals are effective at immediately neutralizing odors—not just masking them—and enhancing the atmosphere of a space. They can be used for odors related to toilets and bathrooms, dampness or stale air, tobacco, kitchen smells, or pet odors. You will also, and above all, want to use them for yourself and to create an ambiance conducive to well-being.

We could obtain an organic label for our perfumed rituals because our formulas do indeed comply with the specifications required to obtain an organic label.

However, obtaining certification involves significant administrative and financial procedures. We have chosen other priorities for the moment.

Even without a label, our approach remains demanding and rigorous.

No, and it would be misleading to make you believe otherwise. The creation of perfume concentrates, the manufacturing of finished formulas, and the printing of our packaging take place in France, with artisans and manufacturers renowned for their expertise. Our photographic editions and objects are also made in France.

However: our glass bottles come from Europe, the ingredients used in our perfumes and soaps come from France, Europe, and also other continents, depending on where the plants naturally grow best. Some of the papers we use come from France or Italy.

To our knowledge, there are currently no 100% French perfumes, from ingredients to final packaging.

ABOUT ALLERGENS & OTHER INGREDIENTS

Natural perfumes contain molecules naturally present in plants, flowers, or citrus fruits.

Among the most common:

  • Linalool – found in lavender, lavandin, coriander, basil, or some citrus fruits
  • Citral – found in lemon verbena, citronella, lemongrass, or lemon
  • Limonene – found in orange, lemon, mandarin, or grapefruit zest
  • Geraniol – found in rose, rose geranium, or palmarosa
  • Linalyl acetate – found in lavender, bergamot, or clary sage

These ingredients also have recognized benefits in aromatherapy.

Their presence does not mean that a product is problematic, but that particular attention is recommended for people with a known allergic predisposition.

No perfume, whether natural or conventional, can guarantee a complete absence of potentially allergenic substances.

Like all fragranced products, our creations may contain certain allergens naturally present in fragranced raw materials or their constituents.

European regulations strictly regulate these substances and require their mention in the INCI list when they exceed certain thresholds:

  • 0.001% in leave-on products
  • 0.01% in rinse-off products

This allows sensitive or allergic individuals to easily identify the molecules concerned.

At Domaine Singulier, this information is clearly indicated on packaging and product sheets so that everyone can make an informed choice.

If in doubt, do not hesitate to ask your allergist or usual doctor.

Non.

Denatured alcohol is alcohol containing a bitter substance, making the perfume undrinkable, as required by European regulations. At Domaine Singulier, we chose an organic French wheat alcohol denatured with Bitrex (the world's most bitter ingredient) and certified by Ecocert. A base that is phthalate-free and free of irritating glycols.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

As with any scented product, a few simple rules are recommended:

  • avoid contact with eyes
  • keep out of reach of children
  • do not use near sources of heat (fireplace, etc.)

It is also recommended to regularly ventilate your home to renew the air, with or without fragrance. This is an essential hygiene practice.

To our knowledge, there are currently no specific regulatory guidelines regarding the use of home fragrances during pregnancy or in the presence of babies. Our creations are formulated in compliance with current European regulations.

As a precautionary measure, we simply advise you to use any fragrance in moderation, to ventilate rooms regularly, and to avoid excessively strong odours, particularly in small, enclosed spaces.

Pregnancy is also a time when the sense of smell can change: some people become more sensitive to certain odours, which they may enjoy or, conversely, tolerate less well. It is therefore important to listen to your body and adjust usage accordingly.

Regarding babies, whose sense of smell is still developing, it is generally recommended to avoid directly perfuming their immediate environment.

It is important not to confuse alcohol that is consumed - which is harmful to health - with the alcohol in perfume, which is not intended for consumption. Alcohol in perfumery has remarkable properties: it preserves aromatic ingredients, dissolves them, and promotes their good diffusion into the air.

At Domaine Singulier, we have chosen an organic wheat alcohol, Ecocert certified, and compliant with current European regulations.

As with any product containing alcohol, some essential precautions are necessary: do not spray towards the eyes or on mucous membranes, do not use near a flame or a heat source, and regularly ventilate your home.

While our fragrances do not have any particular contraindications, they are primarily home fragrances and have not been specifically formulated for animals.

You can use them in a room where your pets are present, simply by ensuring that you:

  • avoid spraying the fragrance when they are directly under the fragrance cloud, as this may displease them,
  • never spray directly on the animal.

To date, we have received no feedback from our customers who own dogs or cats regarding any issues.

If in doubt, do not hesitate to ask your veterinarian for advice, as they are best placed to guide you.

PRACTICAL TIPS & MISCELLANEOUS

Our perfumes can be kept and used for more than three years, provided they are properly capped and stored in a temperate environment. We have chosen amber bottles that protect the formulas from light and oxidation, thus preserving their quality over time without the need for added sunscreens, preservatives, or antioxidants. Furthermore, like a wine or spirit, perfumes composed of natural ingredients and plant-based alcohol evolve over time, can improve, develop a patina, and reveal themselves in new ways.

When the match head ignites, it releases a strong-smelling smoke that very briefly masks other odors. It's no longer pure sulfur as it once was (now prohibited), but the principle remains the same: a pungent odor that overpowers everything else.

Admit it, it's not the most practical, pleasant, safe, glamorous, or discreet gesture in the world…

If you are still a fan of this method, choose your matches carefully: most are not of high quality and contain glue, dyes or paraffin wax which, when burning, diffuse into the air.

And most importantly, remember to turn them off completely and don't throw them in the toilet bowl. :)

Both allow for cold diffusion - without heating the ingredients. The (non-aerosol) spray offers immediate diffusion and a conscious olfactory experience: you choose the time, place, and according to your mood. With a reed diffuser, the scent diffuses continuously, whether you are present or not, day and night, thus offering a passive olfactory experience. It's a matter of taste, sensitivity, places, and moments too. Of course, it is essential to be vigilant about the composition and origin of manufacture. A poor-quality reed diffuser that continuously diffuses a synthetic fragrance and sunscreens is not the best thing...

The principle is to heat the ingredients. This heating can alter the ingredients and release undesirable or even toxic particles. Furthermore, there is a vast variety of diffusers, generally made of plastic – and plastic can also release toxic substances when heated. If you are a fan of this type of diffusion, take the time to carefully choose the container and the type of fragrance.

Toilets are one of the most frequently used spaces in a home.

We often visit them several times a day, as do our guests.

With Domaine Singulier fragrances, this space becomes a sensory well-being interlude:

  • a natural and delicate fragrance replaces harsh and ultra-synthetic sprays
  • the spaces are enhanced
  • the space gains in harmony and tranquility
  • you benefit from the beneficial properties of their ingredients

It becomes a ritual and a special touch for the space, for oneself, and for those around us.
