Bergamot, a joyful, sparkling and sunny fragrance
History and Symbolism

Bergamot is a fruit brimming with sunshine and good cheer. It is said that Calabrian sailors always kept one in their pocket, like a solar talisman. In Italian palaces, gloves and fans were perfumed with its sparkling essence, to seduce as much as to protect. Napoleon would dab drops of bergamot on his collars and letters to leave his signature scent.
Botany and Origin
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) is cultivated almost exclusively in Calabria, on the Ionian coast of Italy. It is harvested between November and March.
Extraction
Its precious and fragile essence is obtained by cold pressing the fruit zest, a process that preserves all its olfactive freshness and properties. The zests are mechanically pressed, without heat, to release the oil pockets lining their surface. This ancestral process ensures that the fruit's tangy freshness remains intact - a small piece of Italy captured in a drop.
Olfactory Properties
Bergamot is renowned for its olfactory virtues. It helps soothe tension, purify the air, and boost good mood. Its main compounds (linalool, limonene, linalyl acetate) are also recognized in aromatherapy for reducing stress and promoting sleep. Good to know: bergamot essence is said to repel mosquitoes, just like citronella and lavender essence.
Olfactory Profile
Bergamot essence is a citrus fragrance with sunny notes that are both sparkling and soft, combining zesty and floral radiance with a delicately fruity green hint.
In Our Creations

At the heart of the Eau belles toilettes perfume, bergamot essence brings joy and good cheer thanks to its unique sensory benefits, which are both energizing and relaxing, depending on the time of day. It will also contribute to the heart of the perfume by eliminating all undesirable odors in the air, and purifying the atmosphere for the pleasure of all sensitive and demanding noses. We have selected an essence extracted from bergamots exclusively harvested on the Ionian coast, rich, particularly multifaceted, with fresh, green, and very slightly sweet notes.
