An ancestral and exotic treatment with multiple benefits.
A little history.
In Polynesia, the coconut tree is called the Tree of Life , quite a symbol. Its extraction.
Coconut oil is extracted from the white pulp of the ripe fruit, cold-pressed and filtered to remove impurities. It is not a juice or milk, but rather a cold-pressed vegetable oil (for virgin and high-quality versions). Pure and unadulterated, it is full of benefits.
Naturally cleansing, protective, purifying and nourishing.
Coconut oil is a gentle, stable, and generous substance. It is composed of 90% saturated fatty acids, which gives it excellent stability and natural film-forming properties.
Very well tolerated, it nourishes, softens, and forms a light protective barrier on the skin. Its affinity with skin tissue makes it an excellent ingredient for natural skincare and cleansing products, particularly cold-process soaps. Finally, it is stable against oxidation and helps extend the life of a soap.
At Domaine Singulier.
We selected certified organic virgin coconut oil from the Philippines, cold-pressed and steam-deodorized.
In Savon de Belle Façon, it is combined with hemp oil, shea butter and sweet almond to offer a perfect balance between effectiveness, care and sensoriality.

Do not confuse cold-pressed virgin coconut oil with:
- Copra oil ( cocos nucifera oil ) is obtained by heating dried coconut to very high temperatures. This manufacturing process causes it to lose nutrients and makes it much less beneficial. It is widely used by the food industry to make pastries, but it is also used to make margarine. It is also widely used in soap making .
- Sodium cocoyl isethionate, or SCI, is a surfactant derived from the fatty acids in coconut oil and isethionic acid. It is composed of 86% coconut oil and 14% isethionic acid and ethylene oxide. It is not very environmentally friendly and is prohibited in the Cosmos specifications. Many soap brands use this ingredient, which is much cheaper than virgin, cold-pressed coconut oil, claiming its naturalness and quality.
Biodiversity in question.
Just like palm oil, coconut oil and copra oil can be responsible for deforestation and threaten biodiversity. Hence the importance of choosing virgin, traceable oil grown using organic or sustainable farming methods.
Questions you may have. And we answer them.
Why use coconut oil ? Because it's one of the only vegetable oils that, once saponified, produces a generous and stable lather without surfactants. It cleanses without being harsh, while providing a pleasant texture that's easy to work with and rinse off.
How do you recognize high-quality coconut oil ? It's virgin, cold-pressed, and unrefined. Its scent is sweet and natural (no sugary or artificial coconut). Its color is a pearly ivory white at room temperature. It melts upon contact with the skin. We've selected high-quality, cold-pressed virgin coconut oil for Savon de Belle Façon.
On the INCI list of Savon de Belle Façon, it is indicated "Sodium Cocoate" ? "Sodium Cocoate" is simply the name of saponified coconut oil, it results from the cold saponification process and gives the soap some of its remarkable properties.
Is it comedogenic? No, coconut oil is not comedogenic in cold-process soap. But pure and used in excess in a cream, coconut oil can indeed be comedogenic for some skin types.
