THE CHERRY BLOSSOM

AN AIRY AND POETIC TENDERNESS

cherry blossom, a fragrance of delicacy and poetry

History and Symbolism

In Japan, cherry blossoms announce the fragile beauty of the world. For centuries, "Hanami" has been celebrated, a poetic ritual where people contemplate the flying petals, an invitation to celebrate the fragility of existence and its perpetual renewal.

Originally, aristocrats organized banquets under the cherry blossoms, composing poems praising their fleeting beauty. "Hanami" gradually spread to all layers of society to become a popular celebration. Japanese people gather every year, with family, friends, and colleagues under the flowering trees to contemplate and honor their beauty. It is a moment of sharing, reflection, and connection with nature.

Botany and Extraction

The Japanese cherry tree (Prunus serrulata) blooms at the very beginning of spring, between March and April. Its flowers are very fragile: essential oil cannot be extracted directly from them. Its scent is also almost imperceptible. What is called "cherry blossom note" is an olfactory composition; an interpretation inspired by its delicacy, freshness, and evanescent sweetness. A composition that invites softness and tranquility of body and mind. Its symbolism of renewal makes it a perfume that brings peace and balance.
