Violet leaf. In absolute form, a unique, vegetal fragrance.

- Small and discreet, sensitive and delicate, the violet leaf gives birth to a unique plant accord, green (with accents of cucumber), woody and slightly leathery.

This small plant belongs to the Violaceae family, which includes violets and pansies. Unlike the flower, the violet leaf does not naturally emit a fragrance. Its scent is obtained by extracting the fresh leaves in the form of an absolute or essence. It is cultivated in Asia, North America, the Mediterranean basin, and France. Some of the most beautiful violet crops grow in the shade of Egyptian date palms.

Medicinal and aromatherapy virtues

Traditionally, violet leaf is known for its soothing, expectorant, and anti-inflammatory properties. In modern aromatherapy, its absolute is prized for its balancing and soothing action and its emotional grounding power.

A little history.

In ancient Greece, violets symbolized fertility. In Christian tradition, they embody humility and fidelity. Violets are said to have bloomed where Adam's tears of remorse fell in the Garden of Eden. Napoleon was nicknamed "Caporal Violet" and became an emblem of the Napoleonic imperial party. To nourish her, he asked the Earth to be covered in violets. This myth gave rise to the word Ionone, a synthetic molecule used to recreate the floral scent of violets.

Do you know?

It is impossible to obtain a scent of violet flowers naturally. The violet flower notes are derived from synthetic reconstruction. In contrast, the rare and expensive violet leaf absolute is 100% natural and precious.
